SRA Advisors

All young people have the potential to succeed in life and contribute to society. However, not all children get the support they need to thrive. Providing nurturing, guidance, and encouragement is at the very foundation of SRA’s program.

Students Rising Above identifies high school students with the potential and desire to go on to college and we help them create new opportunities for themselves. We match them with a SRA  Advisor who works with them beginning in their junior year of high school, all the way through their college graduation.

Our SRA Advisors help our students adjust to the academic and emotional challenges of college, and often serve as a surrogate parent. SRA Advisors are committed to working with our students year-round until they graduate.

Many experts agree that mentoring is a critical element in any child’s development. Young people who have the benefit of caring adult mentors navigate the path to adulthood more successfully.

At SRA, the graduation success rate of our students increased from 50% to 80% since we first introduced the Advisor Program. From experience, we know, if we can get a student through their freshman year of college, then nearly 100% of our sophomores, juniors and seniors will graduate.
