Paid Summer Internships

Summer is historically one of the most challenging times of the year for our students. Many of them are homeless or simply should not or cannot return to their old neighborhoods. During the summer we encourage our students to find meaningful employment or complete additional coursework in summer school.

In addition, we assist students in gaining valuable work experience and help them make community connections. SRA partners with major corporations and local non-profits and for profit businesses in a variety of fields including law, healthcare, entertainment media, engineering, community advocacy, and politics, to provide students with paid summer internships.

Summer internships have included positions such as a corporate financial analyst with an investment banking firm, constituent support for a mayor and state assemblywoman, social philanthropy in a financial service firm, engineering and architectural support for an international engineering firm, and principal clarinet player for a summer music concert series.

SRA works collaboratively with each of its internship partners to ensure that both the student and the employer have a meaningful experience. The skills and confidence that our students develop from these hands-on learning opportunities are invaluable to their success in college and beyond.
