Abbas Mohammad
Abbas learned about war as a child in Afghanistan where he was born. He remembers desperate times when he would worry if he would wake up alive in the morning. One day, his father was killed by a land mine. Soon after, his family left for Pakistan and Abbas began weaving carpets eight hours a day to help support the family.
Abbas and his family came to the United States through a United Nations program. Within one school semester, Abbas Mohammad was on the honor roll with a 3.6 GPA. He will be attending San Francisco State in the fall.
