Alexander was 16 years old when his father died of cancer. At first, grief made it difficult to concentrate on his studies, but his father believed that Alex was born to fulfill some divine purpose, and Alexander worked hard to make his dad proud by excelling in school. He participates in Upward Bound, an educational program designed to help first-generation students prepare for college. Inspired by a love of cars and car design, Alex hopes to become a mechanical engineer. He has been accepted to Cal Poly.
