Chloe Underdue

Chloe was born and raised in the Sunnydale Projects where she lived with her mother and grandmother. “I can still hear my grandmother say, ‘Chloe, go to college so you have all that your mother and I didn’t.’ As a little girl, she knew that she wanted to be a lawyer and knew that lawyers went to high school and college. When her grandmother died, Chloe’s mother began to use drugs heavily, and they moved frequently; at one point, into a shelter. Since 12 years of age, Chloe has been on her own with no adult assistance. She found shelter and safety in the Girls After School Academy, a community program which empowers young girls who live in the Sunnydale Projects. Today she volunteers and gives back to that organization. Chloe currently has a 3.5 GPA at San Francisco’s Mission High School and hopes to attend NYU or UCLA in the fall, majoring in political science
