With her father in and out of prison, Dulce has had to work weekends to help her Mom pay the rent. As the oldest child in her home, she balances work with caring for her two younger siblings, community service, and maintaining her school grades. Dulce always goes the extra mile by taking extra classes, volunteering at the library, and going to summer school. Her GPA is above a 4.0. Because of her academic achievements, Dulce was chosen to visit Washington, DC with the Early Academic Outreach Project. She wants to go to college to help her family and has been accepted at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
