Evita Yarborough is an old soul with a bright future. But as a child, Evita and her siblings panhandled the streets for money. She says their father would take the money for his drug abuse and would also beat their mother.

Child Protective Services stepped in and put Evita and her siblings into foster care. Moving out of state, Evita was unhappy and desperate to get back to the Bay Area. The same woman who adopted her older sister also eventually invited Evita to live with them.

Evita now looks forward to Cal State Long Beach.
