Habsa Bashir

Habsa is a Somali refugee who lost her father in the civil war and spent several years of her childhood in a refugee camp. She emigrated to the U.S. from Ethiopia in 2006. Upon her arrival, she struggled with learning English and assimilating into American culture. Only three years later, she is a high school senior taking honors classes and making new friends. Habsa hopes to inspire her two younger sisters by pursuing her dream of going to college to further her studies. Habsa aspires to a career in Biochemistry or Computer Graphics. She will attend UC Santa Barbara.
