How do you cope with being part of a low-income family in affluent Marin County? For seventeen years, Jessica has struggled to find the answer. Jessica coped with her mom’s alcoholism, and at times, she was the only source of income for her family. But perhaps her greatest burden is also her greatest joy - her disabled younger sister has taught her about love and the joys of family. An outstanding student, Jessica is looking forward to the next chapter in her life. Jessica also recently received the prestigious Horatio Alger National Scholarship and is looking forward to attending Colby College in the fall.
