Kevin is determined to become the first in his family to go to college. This was not an easy goal for a young person growing up in foster care. He describes a part of his life as the dark period -- when he was hurt and angry and acted out. Eventually he realized that attitude was getting him nowhere and he turned his life around. He converted his anger into a positive force by thinking about the hardships overcome by heroes such as Harriet Tubman and Mahatma Gandhi. Now, he's flourishing in school, and has started a dance and step team to keep other students involved in a positive activity. He will attend UC Berkeley.
