Kimberly Armstrong
Kimberly had a seriousness of purpose that many adults would envy. It came to her the hard way. At five, Kimberly witnessed her mother’s murder. She and her brothers were then put into the home of an abusive alcoholic relative. At age 11, Kimberly packed up her little brothers and fled in the middle of the night to a relative who took them in. There was not much money and an ironclad rule – you will study. And study she did.
Kimberly graduated from Oakland Technical High School, and then from UC Berkeley with a degree in Social Welfare and an English minor. After working a year as a legal assistant to the head partner of a small workers' compensation law firm, she assumed greater responsibilities as a case clerk for a larger law firm in San Francisco.
"My interest in law stems from my past, I want to be a voice for victims of child abuse. I want to show people who share similar backgrounds that success is possible. While I want to practice civil litigation for some time, I hope to eventually become a child advocate and work directly with children in foster care and the juvenile court system.”
Kimberly’s pursuit of justice continues; she has been accepted to the University of San Francisco School of Law and will begin attending Fall 2008. “I know that law school is extremely competitive, but with hard work and dedication, I will be a great attorney!”
Kimberly was selected into SRA in 2002 and her two brothers Alfonso and Jose, followed shortly afterwards. Alfonso is attending Ohio Wesleyan; Jose at Manhattanville.
