Krisandra grew up in a family who was often homeless. With her parents separated, and her mother a recovering heroin addict, Krisandra never lived in a place for more than 4-5 months at a time. She found comfort in school spending hours studying and excelling in her studies. Krisandra’s high school counselor describes her as “one of those students who comes along once every few years with a quest for knowledge and an insatiable curiosity in math and science.” She also has a passion for languages and won third place in the Foreign Language Festival hosted by Sonoma State University. Krisandra will attend Oberlin College in the fall where her goal is to be a researcher for NASA.
