Marisol has taken her painful life experiences and has used them as a catalyst to achieve her dreams. Her parents were drug addicts and Marisol had to grow up quickly. She was pulled out of school for two years to care for her siblings. Marisol caught up in her school work with the help of a tutoring program.

Now, she has a 4.0 GPA and graduated Valedictorian. She devotes her time to several Native American youth organizations. She will be attending UC Santa Cruz in the fall.
