Nancy Phung
Nancy has not seen her father since he abandoned the family leaving Nancy and her three siblings with their mom. In 2006, Nancy’s mom was diagnosed with a rare type of cervical cancer, and Nancy must take care of her siblings when her mother seeks treatment in Vietnam. When her mother is at home and feeling well enough, she works as a manicurist. When their mother is unable to work, the family lives on public assistance. Even with these responsibilities at home, Nancy is Senior Class President and an avid member of her school's volleyball team. Nancy is also involved in Meals of Marin, a local organization that delivers food to people fighting life-threatening illnesses such as cancer and HIV/AIDS. Nancy hopes to go to college to study business, specifically marketing. She will attend UC Merced.
