Tyre lives in the troubled Sunnydale Projects – a neighborhood isolated from the San Francisco community-at-large and known for its violence and crime. His cousin was gunned down and killed in a gang-related incident. “What I learned from my cousin’s death is that life is too short and tomorrow is never promised to anyone.” Tyre decided to focus on school and is an honor roll student. He is also a locally and state recognized high school athlete in football, basketball, and track and field. He recently received California’s CIF Spirit of Sport Award given to athletes who serve as positive role models. Tyre hopes to play football in college this fall.
